Land & Roots
A quiet dedication

For Baby Lily

Behind the organic threads, the paper seed tags, and the rewilded coastlines of Land & Roots lies a deeply quiet, personal history. This page exists purely to explain the heartbeat behind our name.

Baby Lily was born with a very rare, life-limiting congenital lung condition known as Alveolar Capillary Dysplasia with Misalignment of Pulmonary Veins (ACDMPV). ACDMPV prevents the lungs from properly absorbing oxygen, as the microscopic blood vessels (capillaries) inside the lung tissue fail to form correctly during development.

Lily spent her short but beautiful days surrounded by absolute devotion and peaceful care. In the quiet moments of her transition, her family found a deep, comforting connection with the butterflies fluttering outside her window — delicate, brief, beautiful creatures carrying an eternal sense of hope and light.

When we built Land & Roots, we decided that the brand would never simply be about selling clothes. We chose to weave Lily's memory directly into the fabric of our mission.

The butterflies we plant wildflower seeds for are not just environmental indicators. They are symbols of remembrance, of delicate lives that make an unforgettable impact on our hearts. By rewilding landscapes to support butterfly colonies, we hope to scatter beauty and life across the world.

As Land & Roots grows, we quietly and directly allocate a portion of our earnings to support pediatric lung research and ACDMPV awareness initiatives, helping fund clinical studies seeking to understand and treat congenital respiratory conditions in newborns.

This is not a marketing campaign. We do not ask for donations, we do not prompt purchases, and we do not seek accolades. This page is here simply so that when you see the orange monarch butterfly resting on the wheat stalks in our logo, you know exactly who we are planting for.

In quiet memory of Baby Lily.
